-I'm getting all four of my wisdom teeth removed in two days.
I will be under general anesthesia.
Only one of my wisdom teeth has emerged from the gum.
You cannot see the other three.
So how will the surgeon remove the ones he cannot see?
And will there be more pain from those than the one already sticking out? With wisdom teeth not sticking out, they will cut around it in order to remove it. It involves cutting the top of the gum as well as a little around the teeth, then removing it. Nerves and roots will also be cut.
Those can produce more pain after it's all done, but with the nice pain meds you'll get, you may not even notice a difference.
Good luck to you!!!To remove the impacted teeth, the surgeon will make an incision in your gums and, if necessary, will remove part of the bone to get to the tooth (often, impacted teeth are trapped by your gums as well as your jawbone). Since you will be under general anesthesia, there should be no pain during the surgery itself.
Speaking from personal experience, I found the recovery period to be quite painful. I had four impacted, and my understanding is that removal of an impacted wisdom tooth is generally more complicated and more likely to result in post-surgery pain than removal of a tooth which has erupted. Your surgeon will likely prescribe a painkiller- I was prescribed Percocet after my surgery- which will help with, but not completely eradicate, the pain.
Preparation can help to mitigate the pain. Make sure you have a plan for filling the prescription on your way home from the surgery, and think about what kind of foods you'll want to eat the first few days when you can't eat anything hard or solid. When mine were removed, I always made sure to keep my antibiotics and painkillers on my nightstand when I went to bed, because the pain was often worse at night and made it difficult to sleep if I didn't take care to take my medicine right before bed.
Just make sure you follow your surgeon's post-op instructions to the letter and hopefully you can make the experience as painless as possible. The good news is that you're totally out for the surgery, it's really just the week or so after that you'll feel any discomfort.
Funny thing, I just got my four wisdom teeth removed. I was under general anesthesia and did not feel anything. Obviously, during the surgery you do not feel any pain. Also, they create small opening in order to remove the wisdom teeth. This means you will have the wound and you will have to rinse your mouth at least twice or more a day after the surgery. Finally, the surgery is not painful, honestly; after the surgery or the "recovery" part is very painful. Good luck and hopefully this helped.
the surgeon will be cutting into your gums and ripping out the teeth that have not yet emerged. he will most likely end up breaking the teeth into pieces trying to get it all out.
and unless you are going to a hospital or surgery center you are not going to be fully under general anesthesia.
if its being done in the office it will be IV sedation which makes you drift in and out of sleep. you can follow commands but you will not even remember that you were awake at all cuz they also mix in an amnesia drug.
The pain is not that bad, 2 out of my 4 were cut out. I went in, got knocked out, and woke up with 4 teeth gone, didn't feel a thing. And yes there is some pain, but with the meds you get through it and it's really not that bad. One thing I had after they cut them out were little pieces of tooth were coming out when I brushed my teeth, which is normal.
dont worry everything will be ok that happened to me too not so long ago they just make a little cut and they pull it out. i only had local anesthesia so i could see everything they did you sure don't feel anything, i only felt like they were pulling them out but no pain at all for sure and your mouth feels weird and you dont even feel it which is crazy lol but you should be ok it went great for me good luck!
well the dentist will cut threw the gum and them extract the tooth with a device ...but it will hurt im not sure if it will hurt more but i do know they hurt a bit ..they should give you pain killer but if they don't you can take motrin or something like that to help
They just make a little cut and there's the tooth which then they pull out. Shouldn't be any worse than when they're sticking out.
And the anesthetics they have for this now are JUST GREAT - no more suffering.
