Is it normal not to have a period yet at 12?

-I thought I started my period in August 2010, but it has been a year, and nothing else has happened. I am confused. Should I bring this up with my doctor at my next physical nex week? I, for example, started my period when I was 8 and was regular as clockwork. My daughter had her first period at the age of 10 but didn't have another until she was 12 and they've never been regular (she is 28 now and on the pill to make them regular) and my older sister was nearly 19 before she had her first period. We are all different CeCe, yet we are also very much alike. Try not to worry honey, I'm sure you are just fine.You may want to ask your doctor about that if you did already start.

I started mine at the age of 10 and was automatically regular. However one of my friends started hers at the age of 9 and her second one did not come until 5 months after the first. I took her 2 years to become regular. It may not be anything to worry about but like I said go ahead and consult your doc. I don't think they will have to look "down there".



I should also add that I started mine earlier than most of my other friends. For the most part they did not start untli 13 or 14.
Not having your period at age 12 is not abnormal...so, no worries there. :0) Having had one menstrual cycle a year ago and not another one since is a bit odd. I know that going for your first pelvic exam can be scary; however, find a nice female gynecologist and she will make it as comfortable an experience as possible. I promise.
--It's completely normal to not have one by 12. I didn't have one until a month before my 16th birthday.

--If you were bleeding once, but haven't had a period since, I would ask the doctor what's up.

--They might look down there.
First of all...yes it is normal....my mom and sister didnt get it till they were 14 lol

In your physical mention it to you docter...they will not check down there they will like feel your stomach

It's normal, some girls don't start till they are 16! Hell, I didn't start till I was 13. But yeah, talk to your doctor about it (: She'll be able to explain it better than anyone on Y!A
